How to prepare successfully for “National Career Days” 2012?

1. Read the information on www.JobTiger.bg and www.careerdays.bg and learn about previous editions of the Forum.
2. Check the information, which will be uploaded for the employers (vacant positions, company presentations, etc.).
3. Follow the job postings in “Virtual Career Days” 2012 on www.JobTiger.bg. You can apply for those positions on www.JobTiger.bg. The title of each position starts with “National Career Days” 2012 or „Национални дни на кариерата” 2012.
4. Give everything to be in perfect shape! Read the whole section in the Advice Center on www.JobTiger.bg.
5. Visit the preliminary specialized workshops. They are held in the days before the forum in different universities around the country. During these seminars you will have the opportunity to get advice and answers to questions related to the preparation of CV and cover letter, and to the behavior during an interview. Some short preliminary information about the participating employers will be provided.

What should you know about the companies?
• Check out the participating companies in advance and mark those you are interested in;
• Make a list of employers you want to talk with and sort them by priority to avoid missing the most important among them due to a lack of time;
• Investigate each company you want to meet. Write down a few key sentences about them, so you could take a quick look at that information before going to the company’s stand.

What documents do you need?
• Bring your CVs and cover letters with you – it’s recommended to have more of them, written in Bulgarian, English or other relevant language;
• The number of CVs to bring depends on the number of companies you are interested in. Nevertheless, having some extra CVs is recommended. Upload your CVs and cover letters to USB flash drive and bring it;
• If you have different versions of your CVs, then prepare the respective cover letters too. When writing the cover letter do not copy the text directly from JobTiger – employers are well acquainted with those examples and using them will not attract their attention to you.

Which is the suitable dress-code?
• If you wonder what to wear when visiting the forum, the simplest choice is a suit. You should dress professionally, like the way you would be dressed if you were going to an interview at the employer’s office.

How to behave at the Forum?
• As the first 10 seconds often are the most important, it is good to make a strong first impression;
• Prepare your introduction in advance;
• Practice greeting the representative of a given company (finish with a smile and a handshake);
• Prepare a 60-second resume (just in case) presenting your basic knowledge, skills and experience (if you have such), as well as the spheres you are interested in or what kind of position you are looking for;
• Collect business cards. Use the opportunity to meet with employees from different companies;
• Be confident, positive, maintain eye-contact. Listen company representatives carefully;
• Don’t interrupt the conversations between company employees and other candidates;
• Ask questions about the companies;
• Try to learn as much as possible about the companies: vacant positions, corporate culture, etc;
• Take notes after every conversation with company representatives. Thus, you will be able to contact the companies after the event.

What to do after the Forum?

• Send a thank-you letter to all the employers you have talked with;
• Add all your new contacts in LinkedIn.com and Probook.bg;
• After few weeks get in contact with the recruitment specialist from the company you want to join.
