NOC Shift Manager
Job Responsibilties

The Shift Manager is a management role suitable for an experienced NOC team leader/manager or senior engineer who has demonstrated a strong aptitude for management.

The NOC Shift Manager has overall responsibility for the company's core IP, Transmission, Voice and Infrastructure networks and supported services while on duty. This includes:
• Prompt and effective resolution of network and customer incidents in line with documented processes and best practice.
• Proactive and intelligent handling of events and alerts (alarms, script notification) in line with documented processes and best practice.
• Correct prioritization of activities within the team in line with agreed standards.
• High quality and accurate documentation of incident handling via the Trouble Ticket system
• Internal and External escalation point (M1) for network and customer incident handling.
• Strong customer advocacy 24x7
• Operations Continuity Planning
• Reporting security incidents to the appropriate operations functions on detection.
• Comply to Interoute Security Management controls, security policies and report security incidents to line manager
• Physical Security Monitoring

Experience Required
General :
• 3 years team leader / management experience in an operational environment
• 5 direct reports and additional matrix management of 4
• 5 years of work within IP or TX Operations environment of a Telco or large ISP.
• 2 years of work in a technical IP or TX support position.
• 2 years experience of working a 24x7 shift pattern.
• 4 years experience with Trouble Ticketing tools (Remedy, Clarify, Siebel)
• 4 years experience with network monitoring tools (InfoVista, HP Open View, SMARTS)

Technical experience in one of the following platforms:
IP Engineering :
• Extensive experience in fault-finding and trouble-shooting within a global MPLS IP network
• Good routing knowledge (ISIS, BGP) in an ISP environment
• Good Cisco hardware and IOS knowledge.
• Good Juniper hardware and JUNOS knowledge.
• Good technical knowledge of CE/CPE configurations and trouble-shooting
• Qualifications: CCNA/JNCNA highly desirable.

Transmission Engineering
• Good knowledge of optical DWDM, OTN (G.709) and SDH standards and underlying technology and networks.
• Understanding of telecommunications service layers, ie. xDSL, Frame Relay, ATM, VPN, VoIP, Transmission
• Extensive experience in fault-finding and trouble-shooting for SDH and DWDM technology and networks
• Experience of Alcatel, Ciena and/or Infinera platforms a distinct advantage.
