The Risk Assessment Centre on Food Chain (RACFC) is an administration established by a statutory act, a  second-level spender of budgetary appropriations with budget supervised by  the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and headquarters in Sofia.

The Risk Assessment Centre on Food Chain  performs scientific risk assessments through independent, transparent and impartial analysis of scientific information on issues that directly or indirectly affect animal and plant health, plant and animal products, plant and animal reproductive material and food and feed safety.

The Bulgarian focal point of EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) is part of RACFC and coordinates the activities between EFSA and national food safety authorities, research institutes, universities, etc.

The RACFC  experts are involved in scientific and research activities, developing their potential and careers through participation in scientific networks, project cooperation, participation in EFSA Focal Point activities, working groups, seminars, conferences and different events within RACFC activities on national and international level.
