Country Communications Partner - Europe Lean Cluster
Preferred locations are Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and
other countries within the cluster
Communications is a crucial function to our success. As Country
Communication Partner for our European Lean Cluster you are
responsible for leading Tier 1 and financial media as well as
crisis communications and issues management for Albania, Croatia,
Republic of North Macedonia, Greece, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria,
Romania, Slovenia, and Israel. You are responsible for protecting
the ABB brand and for ensuring a balanced profile of ABB and its
businesses across the lean cluster countries. You will provide
strategic communications counsel to CHOs (Country Holding Officers)
in your cluster and collaborate with other communicators in the
region in line with the ABB Way.
The work model for the role is: Hybrid/Remote
This role is contributing to the Country Communications team in
Albania, Croatia, Republic of North Macedonia, Greece, Hungary,
Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, and Israel .
Responsibilities
You will be mainly accountable for:
Media and PR: Leads media relations with Tier 1 and financial
publications across the EU Lean Cluster working with division,
business area and group communicators. Act as a spokesperson for
country Tier 1 and financial media, respond to incoming media
requests and supports key leaders with media guidance, coaching and
speaking opportunities. Localize and distribute global press
releases to Tier 1 and financial publications for all ABB divisions
and business areas, as locally appropriate. Plan, support, prepare
and manage responses to inquiries from external sources – including
crisis and issue-related media and social media escalations and
responses
Issues and Crisis Management: Serve on the country/regional crisis
task force. Offer guidance regarding crises and issues in line with
ABB’s operational model. Ensure all issues and crises are handled
with minimum negative impact to the organization and the ABB
brand.
Internal Communications: – Lead required internal communications
duties (i.e. mandatory employee communications and fiduciary
requirements locally). Manage cascading of limited ABB Corporate
content in alignment with other functions including legal and
integrity, HSE, HR and security. Governance of lean cluster
countries internal communication channels such as Viva Engage and
the intranet.
Digital Communications: Governance, of country social channels and
websites, where they exist. Translation verification coordination,
when required.
Brand and Reputation: Safeguard brand identity and ensure
regulatory compliance in all communications, both internally and
externally. Ensure balanced profile in the region.
Finance and Leadership: Manage and apply rigorous control to the
lean cluster communications budget, ensure transparency and
maximize effectiveness and efficiency. Ability to build a network
of agency and local team support to call on as needed for local
needs.

Qualifications for the role
Undergraduate degree, or higher, in Communications, PR or other
relevant discipline
10 years’ experience in Communication Management and/or Public
Relations in a highly matrixed organization supporting at least one
or two of the cluster countries
Fluency in English (written and spoken) and strong writing/editing
skills. Fluent in at least one language of the cluster area
preferred.
In-depth demonstrable knowledge and experience of all aspects of
external and internal communications.
Extensive network within the press/media and ability to lead crisis
communications autonomously.
Strong business partnership, collaboration and communication
skills, with deep experience of managing internal and external
relationships seamlessly.
Comfortable with ambiguity, adaptable to complex situations
Knowledge of the regional cultural landscape and ability to advise
accordingly.
Strategic with a hands-on mindset; familiar working in a global
business environment across geographies and languages.
