LDC is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Director,
Data Management and Platform to lead the company's data
management function and drive the evolution of our data platform.
This critical leadership role will be responsible for establishing
and executing a comprehensive data strategy that ensures the
quality, accessibility, security, and governance of all LDC's
data assets. The successful candidate will have a proven track
record of building and managing high-performing data teams,
implementing robust data governance frameworks, and delivering
modern, scalable data platforms. This role is vital to supporting
LDC's strategic objectives, particularly in the areas of
trading, research, risk management and operational efficiency.
The Senior Director will report to the Global Head of Data Science
and Analytics and will be a key member of the Analytics Leadership
Team. This position has large budget and people accountability and
will involve regular interactions with the company's Executive
Team, including the CEO, CFO, and CIO.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Strategy & Vision: Develop and implement a comprehensive
data strategy aligned with LDC's overall business objectives.
Define the long-term vision for data at LDC, including data
architecture, technology stack, and data governance principles and
practices
Data Governance: Establish and maintain a robust data governance
framework encompassing data quality, data security, data privacy
and data access controls. Implement policies and procedures for
data certification, metadata management, and master data
management.
Data Management: Oversee all aspects of data management, including
data cataloging, data quality management, data lineage, data
integration, and data warehousing. Ensure data accuracy,
completeness, consistency, and timeliness across all data domains.
Ensure data governance is embedded at the core data
infrastructure.
Data Platform: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of
LDC's data platform, including data lakes, data warehouses, and
other data infrastructure components. Ensure the platform is
scalable, reliable, secure, and supports the diverse data needs of
the organization. We are constantly investing in keeping our data
platform at the latest standards.
Metadata Management: Implement a comprehensive metadata management
system to provide clear definitions, lineage, and context for all
data assets. Ensure metadata is actively managed and utilized to
improve data discovery, understanding, and trust.
Master Data Management (MDM): Oversee the MDM program to create and
maintain a single, authoritative source of truth for critical
business entities (e.g., counterparties, products, locations).
Data Quality: Define and implement data quality metrics and Key
Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor and improve data quality
across all data types (time series, operational, geospatial,
unstructured). Drive a culture of data quality awareness and
accountability throughout the organization.
Data Integration: Ensure robust integration framework for all
external and internal data sources
Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of
data engineers, data architects, data stewards, and data governance
specialists. Foster a collaborative and innovative team
environment.
Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with stakeholders
across the organization (technology, commercial teams, research,
risk management) to understand their data needs and ensure the data
platform and governance framework meet those needs.
Technology Evaluation: Continuously evaluate and recommend new data
management technologies and tools to improve efficiency, enhance
data capabilities, and drive innovation.
Budget Management: Manage the data management and platform budget,
ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources across the
organization
Data Scorecard: Actively manage and contribute to the company wide
data scorecard, focusing on data completeness and accuracy across
the key data
Data Science Workbench Management: Oversee and manage the data
science workbench, ensuring it provides a robust and efficient
environment for analysts and data scientists to develop and deploy
models. This includes responsibility for the tools, infrastructure,
and processes that support the full data science lifecycle.
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer
Science, Information Management, Economics, Statistics, Data
Science, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in data management and data
platform leadership roles.
Proven experience building and managing data governance frameworks
in a complex, global organization.
Strong experience with market, financial and operational data.
Extensive experience with data warehousing, data lakes, and data
integration technologies.
Experience with master data management principles and tools.
Experience with data quality management methodologies and
tools.
Experience working with various data types, including time-series,
operational and geospatial data.
Experience in a financial services company (banking, insurance,
hedge funds) or data providers is highly desirable.
Experience in trading industry

tools (PowerBI, Dash)
Languages: Fluent in English. Knowledge of other languages is a
plus.
