Lufthansa Technik Sofia performs heavy maintenance checks on the Airbus A320 family and Boeing B737 including B737 Classic and B737 NG. The company is situated at Sofia airport and operates since October 2008.


The purpose of the position is to identify materials specific to the completing of certain projects based on relevant documentation, customer requirements or historical consumption within the following main functions:
- Be part of Material Target Setting Team within Central Material Management department, providing service to LHT facilities in Germany, Malta, Ireland, Puerto Rico, Hungary and Sofia
- Provides timely and quality preparation of targets for consumption of materials by production, based on technical documentation, requirements, historical consumption.
- Analyzes materials consumption for particular projects.
- Manages the process of creating, processing and updating of existing databases, with identified specific materials that need to be secured before project start.
- Assists in the implementation and application of established best practices within LHT network, leading to optimization of consumption and cost.

Requirements and necessary skills

The primary responsibilities of the Material Planning Engineer are:

- Manages the process of creating, processing and updating databases related to identification of materials for a certain project.
- Proposes decisions on the application of certain methodologies, principles and documents
- Defines SMART targets for material consumption, using different methods, tools and documentation, Reads and supports the interpretation of the technical documentation of the customer and OEM; observes available updates in these documents to make sure they are reflected in the existing data base
- Collaborates with local structures of material management, central material planning, production, key account management and planning engineering on matters related to material consumption and opportunities for improvement
- Analyzes the actual consumption versus planned targets and, if necessary, initiate corrective actions towards production and / or necessary database update

To be successful with the role you need to comply with the following requirements:

- University degree in aircraft engineering and / or experience in the planning of technical maintenance of aircraft, control of production and / or program for development of technical maintenance and / or applicable practical experience in a production environment
- Good knowledge in material planning and ERP systems
- Ability to work with technical documentation applicable to aircraft maintenance and ability to interpret customer and OEM technical documentation
- Expert Skills with MS Office (especially Excel)
- Very good knowledge of English (written and spoken)
- Ability to work independently and to be initiative
- Good communication skills and ability in work in team
- Good analytical and reporting skills
- Self-driven and able to stick to deadlines
