Platform Engineer - VCF & Cloud-Native Platforms
We are seeking a talented and motivated Mid-Level Platform Engineer
to help manage and evolve our on-premise VMware Cloud Foundation
(VCF) environment, integrating modern cloud-native practices to
accelerate our digital transformation.
The Role
As a Platform Engineer, you will be a key player in building and
maintaining the infrastructure and tools that enable our
development teams to build, deploy, and operate applications more
efficiently and securely. You will bridge the gap between
traditional IT operations and modern software development, focusing
on automation, containerization, and robust security practices
within our private cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
VCF Management: Administer, monitor, and optimize our VMware Cloud
Foundation (VCF) environment, ensuring high availability,
performance, and scalability for business-critical
applications.
Kubernetes Orchestration: Design, deploy, and manage
production-grade Kubernetes clusters (e.g., Tanzu) on the VCF
infrastructure, optimizing them for peak performance and
reliability.
Information Security: Collaborate with our Information Security
teams to embed DevSecOps practices within the platform, including
secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and ensuring
compliance with banking industry regulations and security best
practices (e.g., NSX micro-segmentation, firewall
configuration).
API Management: Manage and provide operational support for the API
Gateway, overseeing the onboarding of new applications and ensuring
secure, controlled access to internal and external services.
Monitoring & Observability: Configure and manage monitoring,
logging, and alerting systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK
stack) to ensure platform visibility, troubleshoot complex issues,
and perform root cause analysis.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional development, QA,
and operations teams to understand platform requirements,
streamline workflows, and foster a culture of collaboration and
knowledge sharing.
Required Knowledge and Expertise
Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on experience in platform
engineering, cloud engineering, or a related DevOps role,
preferably within the financial services sector or a similarly
regulated industry.
VMware: Strong knowledge and practical experience with VMware
technologies, including VCF, vSphere, vSAN, and NSX.
Containers & Orchestration: Deep experience with
containerization technologies (Docker) and Kubernetes (K8s)
management.
Networking & Security: Good knowledge of networking concepts
(TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing, Firewalls) and a strong understanding
of information security principles and compliance in an enterprise
environment.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with
the ability to troubleshoot complex, distributed systems.
Highly Valued Skills & Certifications
DevOps Tools: Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)
and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible).
Programming/Scripting: Strong scripting and automation skills using
languages like Python, Go, or Bash.
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or similar VCF
certification
Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
Experience with API Gateway solutions (e.g., Kong, AWS API
Gateway)
Familiarity with Observability stacks like Prometheus/Grafana
