Performs roles and responsibilities under general supervision and
provides direct oversight of subordinants.
Ensures set up of kitchen or other food service areas, including preparing areas for daily operations.
Ensures set up of equipment and utensils, provide detailed instructions according with specific area needs, also attending to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
Check food condition and temperatures, detects and disposes of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions.
Provide supportive leadership to kitchen staff throughout food service. Ensure that kitchen staff has proper direction.
Oversee food preparation and cooking and assist in preparing meals by reviewing recipes; assembling, combining, and cooking ingredients; and maintaining a sanitary kitchen.
Prepare ingredients by following recipes; slicing, cutting, chopping, mincing, stirring, whipping, and mixing ingredients; adding seasonings; verifying taste; and plating meals.
Prepare hot meals by grilling, sautéing, roasting, frying, and broiling ingredients and assembling and refrigerating cold ingredients.
Adhere to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintains temperature and maintain appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food items.
Coordinate and manage daily food supply inventory for food service areas.
Assist with receipt of deliveries.
Contribute to daily, holiday, and theme menus in collaboration with staff.
Ensure smooth operation of food service areas.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, food storage, and work areas, this includes cleaning according to daily and weekly schedules and dishwashing washing as needed.
Listen to customer complaints and suggestions and resolves complaints.
Instructs personnel in use of new equipment and cleaning methods and provides efficient and effective methods of maintaining work area.
Provide specific instructions in preparation of meals and other food items.
Provide guidance and training to other staff members performing related work
